This was my first genmaicha. I really enjoy teas with a nutty flavor component--like some oolongs--as a nice change of pace from regular black tea.Pros:- A very nice toasted, nutty flavor. The nutty flavor is much more pronounced than in oolongs like The Tao of Tea Wuyi Oolong Tea.- A toasted, nutty fragrance as well. In my opinion, the toasted rice comes through a lot stronger on the nose than the green tea. That's a nice change from traditional green and black teas.- Holds up well to a couple steepings in a Teavana Perfect Tea Ball. The second steeping, of course, requires a bit more time to attain the same strength.- I think there's a proper ratio between the amount of toasted rice and green tea leaves.Cons:- The green tea itself is a bit bitter for my tastes.- For those who like a perfectly pure cup of tea, the toasted rice, of course, turns to mush after steeping for awhile, so a second steeping can leave some sediment in the cup. I happen to like it because it transfers that nutty flavor to the brew.I wouldn't be afraid to purchase this again, but I think I'm going to try another variety first to see if I can get one with green tea that's not as bitter.
