Each emery board has 2 sides to shape and smooth the nails. The coarse side shapes nails while the fine side smoothes and finishes.

To use, hold the emery board at a slight angle just under the nail. Beginning with the coarse side of the board, start on one side of the nail tip and work toward the center. The file the other side of the nail in the some direction. To prevent splitting, file only in one direction. After shaping the nail as desired, use the fine side of the board in the same way to smooth and finish the details.

Make sure to replace the file when worn.

Contains a total of 15 Emery Boards [3 sizes, 5 pieces each size].

I was thinking the green color files would be a nice change but I think I like the old brown color better. These were poor quality. They are not made is the U.S.A. some of the boards were missing grit.Half of a few boards had only wood. The biggest problem was I could not tell which side was the fine side or the heavy side. both sides seemed the same.The good thing about the file was that their were so many in the package. They will last for a long time.
